The number of tourists to this second largest Emirate of the UAE has grown with 500% in the last 5 years. In 2006 6.44 million guests booked a hotel room in one of Dubai's 415 hotels while 28,7 million passengers passed Dubai International Airport. The aim in 2010 is to have 15,0 million tourists traveling to Dubai.


Due to the enormous passenger and cargo growth a second airport is under construction and is expected to be completed in 2017. In November 2007 it was officially named Al Maktoum International Airport but working names were Jebel Ali International Airport and Jebel Ali Airport City. This new airport is situated near Jebel Ali, south of Dubai while the Dubai International Airport is located 4 km from the City Center.

The Dubai Customs allows tourists and expats to bring 4 liters alcoholic liquor (including Wine, Beer or Spirits) per passenger . Also it is allowed to bring into Dubai 400 cigarettes or 2 kilo of cigar or tobacco products other than cigarettes. One must be 18 years and over. Be aware that if you have an Israeli entry stamp in your passport, you will not be allowed to enter the UAE.
